June 1st, a move that was not all it could be.
The moving date of June the 1st came and I guess as in a lot of cases with building work the studio was not ready to move into in Broomhill. But having told everyone for the last two months at Gallery 45 I would be moving on June 1st this ,I felt, I was obliged to do.
I had 5 members of my family that day come to help me move. Some taking a day off work, some coming back from college. That in itself was a great feeling of support and comfort. In the end what we did was to move everything down to the new studio and put it all under a tarpaulin until the building work has been completed and then I can start setting up the glass studio. Hopefully that will be around June 10th.
Meanwhile I am trying not to worry about the commissions I need to be getting on with, the deadlines I have to meet and the lack of new work I have for the Alnmouth Arts Festival which takes place in a couple of weeks time.
At least I was able to attend the Northumberland Day event at Langley Castle the weekend before the move. Here the largest stottie was baked for Northumberland Day and people got a chance to get involved in various events around the castle including watching a bird of prey display and seeing the glass awards that I had designed and made to be presented to "The Best Dressed Village, The Best Designed Event, The Best Community Involvement and The Most Inspiring School".
