Anticipating the New Year.

As the rain continues to fall I am spending the first couple of weeks in January out of my studio while Kevin and Simon, (the builders) sound proof the ceiling. Having had a week and a half off over Christmas and now waiting for the studio to be ready I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms.  I need to be making!!
One of the things I have been doing is spending time looking at other glass artists work and I would like to share some of the absolutely beautiful work I have come across.

Shayna Leib does some amazing things with glass. Coming from California she works not only with glass but also ceramic, stone and metal. She was an underwater diver  and photographer and has used this experience and of living by the sea to influence her work. Alot of her glass work expresses the flow of the coral reefs.

Japanese artist Ikuta Niyoko uses layers of laminated sheet glass to create extraordinary geometric sculptures.

Rick Satava is an American glass artist who uses hand blown and solid formed glass to produce memorising sculptural pieces particularly of jelly fish which have found their way all round the world.

So, there are three artists whose work I really do admire and aspire too. If you have any glass artists work you really like and admire then why don't you give them a mention in the comments column.
