Signing on the dotted line

On Friday the 17th March I signed the lease to my new premises. After looking for a few months I got word (through one of the women that comes on my workshops) that someone in Broomhill had bought the old miners' bath house and was dividing it up into units for small businesses. I didn't even know Broomhill had a building that was originally a miners' wash/bath house. Anyway, I got the name of the guy and arranged with him to go down to Broomhill and have a look. The building has stood empty for years. It had been used by a business called "Shark Survival". They made diving suits. In one part of the building was a large silo which they would have filled with water to test the suits. The building, considering it has stood empty for years looked in pretty good condition. Inside it was coated with ceramic tiles that looked as though they were a couple of inches thick. It does need some work doing to it but it is exactly what I had been looking for.

I get about four times the space of my studio in Felton with a small kitchen area, reception and toilets. It needs work doing to it but I reckon I can make it look inviting, warm (it has no heating) and a place that people want to spend time in. Oh, and most importantly it has 3 phase electric so I can get my bigger kiln. So now I am applying for grants to help with the costs as I can't do it all myself

Below are some  images of the place, as you can see it needs some love and attention but when I have it the way I want it you'll all be invited round to celebrate the opening.
